Overview

Graham Packaging is seeking a dynamic Director of Digital Factory, Automation, and Operational Effectiveness focused on optimizing operations by continuing the digitizing, monitoring, and automating of our plant network. The candidate will develop and refine the digital factory strategy, automation strategy, and lead the implementation of connectivity in our factories working cross-functionally with operations, engineering, supply chain, finance, human resources, and information technology team members. This role has responsibilities for leading a multidisciplinary team to drive and to capture the financial benefit of digitization, automation, and maintenance health by identifying and reporting out monthly on key performance indicators. The Director of Digital Factory and Operational Effectiveness will own training implementation of our connected assets, centralized monitoring of those assets, and oversight of our various plant health scorecards. This candidate will be skilled in software for Factory IoT architecture as well as mechanical and electrical equipment systems to best drive strategy, technical development, and implementation in connected complex systems.

This person will have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative working environment, maintain high levels of personal accountability, and be able to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization. The qualified candidate will have the ability to simplify and explain complex processes; use understanding of manufacturing processes to identify and quantify value drivers; and be skilled in equipment design, development, and manufacture.

This position will be part of the Equipment Leadership & Engineering Organizations. The role can be remote or hybrid with domestic and international travel up to 50%. The position will report to the Chief Technology Officer.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead a diverse team in the technology development, implementation, monitoring, and training programs in the digitization of our global factory network.

  • Lead our maintenance systems and programs for our global factories, leveraging digital innovation to improve our processes, monitoring, and visibility of our maintenance health.

  • Direct, harmonize, and partner with our operations to lead our automation strategy across our factories.

  • Create a strategy by drawing insights from industry trends and collaborating with global and regional leaders to shape our strategic direction in digital manufacturing and automation.

  • Translate overarching business strategies into actionable plans, ensuring effective execution and capturing the value created through digitization and automation.

  • Identify immediate business challenges and craft innovative digital solutions, driving rapid implementation at scale to create tangible business value.

  • Advocate for the Voice of the Customer (VOC) to drive the business case for digitization and automation.

  • Evaluate existing digital solutions in place ensuring compliance and promoting use, while streamlining processes to minimize redundancy and maximize impact.

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of digital solution rollout ensuring effective training, implementation into daily work processes, monitoring of the solutions, and capturing the financial value.

  • Serve as the key escalation point to ensure prompt resolution of issues and continuous improvement in service delivery to keep operations running at peak efficiency.

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or 10 years equivalent work experience in operations and/or with electromechanical systems.

  • Minimum of 10-years’ experience leading digital, software, and/or engineering teams in connectivity and equipment development.

  • Experience in connected equipment technologies inclusive of robotics, automation, and IOT’s ability to create financial value.

  • Track record of influencing organizational strategies and driving industry best practices by collaborating cross-functionally across the enterprise and with external industry organizations.

  • Strong understanding of operational excellence, lean principals, statistics, and data analysis.

  • Skilled in facilitation of problem-solving, F ailure M ode and E ffects A nalysis (FMEA), and Kaizen.

  • Experience with PDM (Product Data Management) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems.

  • Broad experience across manufacturing / operation disciplines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Skillful in coaching and mentoring to drive engagement and ownership.

Supervisory Duties: Lead a diverse team of project managers, engineers, and various technical disciplines.

The standard compensation for this role is $142,800 - $206,300. Salary offers will be determined based on final candidate qualifications, experience, skillset, and other relevant factors

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
